Every piece starts with a feeling and grows through layers of colour and texture. No rigid plans, just the freedom to explore and create. Art made to invite you to look again.
Instinct, Emotion, Colour: The Story Behind the Work
Each painting starts with a loose intention and develops with intuitive brushstrokes. Layers of acrylic paint, charcoal, pencil, and pastels build upon one another, with each mark and texture contributing to the piece’s unfolding story. The process is one of experimentation, of pushing boundaries and responding to what feels true in the moment. As I work, a delicate balance of composition, color, movement, and expression emerges, and with it, the painting finds its own unique form and voice.
Through my work, I invite the viewer to experience not just the visual elements of the painting, but the emotions and energy behind each stroke and layer. I want my pieces to evoke a response, whether that be a feeling of introspection, joy, tension, or calm. My intention is for the viewer to be drawn into the layers of the composition, to feel the weight of the marks and the lightness of the colors, and to connect with the painting in a way that stirs something personal within them.
My Journey
I began my artistic journey in my late twenties, with a lifelong history of creative exploration through various forms, though I had never formally studied art until I enrolled in the Certificate of Art & Design program at Whitecliffe College of Arts and Design. Initially, my goal was to pursue graphic design, but it was there that I discovered my love for painting.
Motherhood soon shifted my focus, and art took a backseat for a time. During this period, I explored other creative outlets, such as designing wedding invitations, and designing and making tote bags, handbags, and toiletry bags. However, it wasn’t until 2020 that I returned to painting, reigniting the deep connection I have with the process.
My art is an instinctive response to my environment, both within and outside of myself. My paintings are an expression of myself and my desire to communicate on a deeper level.

“My art isn’t a riddle to solve or a lesson to learn. It’s something to sit with. To explore. To notice what you didn’t notice at first glance.”
